Joni Ernst Quickly Fundraises Off Joe Biden Comments

Fresh off her viral moment where she inadvertently revealed that Republican’s real goal with their impeachment testimony was damaging Joe Biden politically, Sen. Joni Ernst is now fundraising off of it.

Her newest fundraising email calls on the conservatives in Iowa to donate to her to prove Biden wrong after comments he made about her on the trail.

“You Iowa caucus-goers have a chance for a twofer here,” Biden said at an event in Muscatine today. “You can ruin Donald Trump’s night by caucusing for me, and you can ruin Joni Ernst’s night as well.”

He also tweeted:

On Monday, Ernst mentioned the upcoming caucuses and questioned whether Iowans would support the former vice president after the day’s developments.

“I’m really interested to see how this discussion today informs and influences the Iowa Caucus voters,” Ernst said. “Those Democratic caucus-goers. Will they be supporting Vice President Biden at this point? Not so certain about that.”

Her comment referred to the testimony in the Senate, where the White House defense team spent hours painting Biden as corrupt for pursuing the removal of a Ukrainian prosecutor, an action supported and encouraged by the international community.

Ernst’s fundraising email reiterated and supported that line of argument.

The subject of Ernst’s email says: “Sorry Joe, I’m not scared.” Following that is a call to action for Iowa conservatives.

“We need every single conservative to take action today to show Joe Biden that Iowans are in this fight with President Trump and myself to secure the White House and protect the Senate Majority,” the email reads. “It’s time for Joe Biden to face the truth and realize Iowans want FOUR MORE YEARS of President Trump and a Republican Senate Majority.” (emphasis theirs)

The email then promises a 4:1 match on all donations through 11:59 tonight.

Since the trial began, Ernst has downplayed the impeachment effort against Donald Trump. When asked directly by a reporter whether the Senate should allow witnesses, Ernst dodged.

“We have yet another day, maybe, of discussion coming from the White House counsel,” Ernst replied yesterday. “We have our own questions that we’ll ask. And then we will make that decision.”

  • I’ll take the twofer as in getting rid of you and Trump also. But you do realize you are not going to be running against Joe Biden don’t you? Just checking.
