Sioux City Man Charged for Role in Capitol Riot

A seventh Iowan was charged for taking part in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol in Washington, DC.

According to the Sioux City Journal, Kenneth Rader, 53, of Sioux City was arrested Thursday and was charged in the US District Court for the District of Columbia with four charges: knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.

According to the Journal, two family members reported Rader’s actions to the FBI. Rader was also seen on camera wearing a Trump 2020 hoodie inside the Capitol.

Other Iowans charged in connection to the insurrection include Doug Jensen of Des Moines, Leo Kelly of Cedar Rapids, Deborah Sandoval of Des Moines and her son, Salvador Sandoval Jr. of Ankeny, Kyle Young of Redford, and Daryl Johnson of St. Angsar who pled guilty earlier this month and awaits sentencing.
