Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds doubled down on her support for former President Donald Trump on Friday after he was federally indicted for illegally taking classified documents—including some containing information about US nuclear programs—from the White House.

“The federal indictment of former President Trump represents a grave warning sign for the state of equal justice and public trust in government institutions in this country,” Reynolds said in a statement.

The indictment against Trump was made public Friday and alleges Trump illegally left the White House with classified information “regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries; United States nuclear programs; potential vulnerabilities of the United States and its allies to military attacks; and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack.”

Trump has been charged with 31 counts of violating the Espionage Act due to his “willful retention” of classified records, and several other counts related to his alleged effort to obstruct the investigation.

The indictment also says Trump tried to obstruct the investigation in several ways, including suggesting that his attorney hide or destroy documents requested by the grand jury in the investigation. It also reveals that Trump stored the classified documents in “a ballroom, a bathroom and shower, an office space, his bedroom, and a storage room.”

Reynolds, like Trump, is a Republican. She accused the Biden administration of overreach and of weaponizing the US Department of Justice (DOJ) for investigating Trump’s alleged theft of materials related to the American nuclear program and the country’s other protective measures.

“This is a sad day for America, and it is difficult to see where we go from here—particularly as President Biden has also been accused of the same thing the DOJ is prosecuting former President Trump for. 2024 can’t come soon enough,” Reynolds said.

  • No, Corporate Kimmie, Biden has NOT been accused of the same things that the Previous Guy was indicted and arrested for. Pleas, for once in your term, get real.
